On Second Thought

Okay so in addition to the wonderful IBS thing that's been going on that makes taking the bus to work a very scary endeavor let me tell you - I think I'm coming down with the flu - there's a nasty virus going around - patients have it, boss has it and the cousin I was at the funeral today with has it... so I'm hustling off to bed loaded up on vitamins and Tylenol praying that my amazing vegan immune system works so that I don't have to call in sick tomorrow or even worse have to go to work sick tomorrow - which means I will have hives - when I run a fever I get hives - life is wonderful is it not?.... And even worse since I've been craving a run - which is even worse - fatigue and running isn't a good thing. We'll see - fingers crossed.

So that aside - when I was in the gym on Tuesday running away on the treadmill like a glorified gerbil in head to toe Lululemon - there was this Foo Fighter's video that came on - amazing, I love running to Linkin Park and any of the other similar music - the angry stuff - get out the pent up frustration from dealing with work and life and men... that's what the Kelly Clarkson music is for. Regardless, watch and we're going to play what do you see in the video - I don't want to weight in with an analysis just yet.

Nothing medical related is taboo - it's the awful thing about working in medical offices since I was 15 - I've had to see a lot, and even worse I've had to talk about it all with a straight face with patients - not look at all surprised at what someone decided to share. I am aware that I make people uncomfortable occasionally but as a whole my friends are involved in the medical field in some way or another so they don't care.

My good friend is a Pediatrician and our other friend John is doing his surgical residency right now. During dinner "with our gathering," the three of us will talk about stuff and we have discovered if you want an empty table, just start talking shop.

Ah yes - been there done that, though I find if my friends have been around long enough they get used to it - and remember episodes, so they can get in on the action... everyone loves a good story about a crazy patient, or about the time I had to do a vision screening for a rapist - while he was in shackles - got the short straw on that day apparently...and of course I was wearing a knee length skirt and all I could think was those prison guards aren't going to help one bit...

I have never had that feeling while wearing a knee length skirt.
