My Legs

There had been a request to know about my legs, which honestly I find a little odd, but hey it's a good break from the previous discussions. My legs - well what a history they have had, sordid and painful. I'm a klutz. I have more that once in my life been thigh deep and trapped - first occasion I manage to not avoid a large whole in a sewer drain, stepping right in and a similar case happened in Grade 8 or 9 at Firwood - the hinged docks opened engulfing and subsequently pinching my leg repeatably until I was able to convince some lame leader I was actually in pain and it was serious. Needless to say my parents should have done something about that after the fact, but I guess I was just too embarrassed - unfortunately or fortunately the same situation happened every year (not to me!) until they switched venues - this is where I get my distrust of floating docks. I've trashed my knees through the years - falling off a 3 foot retaining wall onto my face/knees in grade 4 was a brilliant move. In high school I played ball hockey with no shin guards (for girlie girls) - though I have to say I did wear a mouth guard after Jenn Lush split my lip when she put the end of her stick into my mouth - my mom fearing not my lips but the thousands of dollars of orthodontic work insisted on the guard. Since then my legs have run the Sun Run (10k) - 4 separate times, logged many hours while I attempted to train for a marathon and been the source of some of my greatest personal frustrations. As many of you know I have/had plantar fasciitis for the last 3 years now - leaving me at times unable to walk let alone run - you begin to realize how one little like a tight calf muscle can change your life.

Anywho - I have posted a picture of the scar on my right knee - it's from last summer when I ripped open my knee on a hinge on my parents' garage door - sounds weird I know - honestly though I'm surprised I hadn't done it sooner. There is only room to shuffle parallel along the garage door to get to the lock - all my father's tools etc are basically against the door. So on my way shuffling back from the lock I attempted to hasten my exit by turning perpendicular and in the process my right knee smashed into the hinge at midget knee level and swearing and profuse bleeding ensued.

My legs are pittiful as well. I have a negative Q angle which has caused serious knee problems leading to one surgery whihc I was supposed to have on my right knee as well, but after the left knee operation, I changed my mind on the right. I will deal with the constant rubbing and swelling do to the lack of decent cartillage as long as I can.

By the way, if you click on the picture it is huge and gives a much closer look at your leg than I ever really cared to see.
