Whistle While You Work...

Well I've sure been working - thus the lack of blog - pretty much no Internet at work - but that doesn't mean I haven't been reading, baking or mulling over my options. I've been reading, Nobodies: Modern American Slave Labor And The Dark Side Of The New Global Economy, by John Bowe.

Which has made me want to swear off of any of the major conglomerates - Pepsi etc - all of whom seem to have their fingers in everything from the GMO seeds and pesticides used to the distributors to the stores they are sold in. All of which ensures the greatest profit for the the company heads, zero competition and of course - slave labor. Much of which has been part of American foreign policy for years - the permitted/encouraged immigration of migrant (ie. non-American) workers to fulfill jobs in sectors where minimal expenditure on wages and worker's rights are desired.

Baking: I just made Double Cranberry Lemon Cornmeal Muffins - low fat too...

Mulling: Well it appears as though I'll have full time work come January - which is good, gives me a chance to save up some money, buy a couch, new bedding, some new clothes too - haven't been shopping in 4 months - and that was just a top - I need a new pair of shoes since my Clark's have a hole in the bottom. And I would like to be able to go visit Sven in Stuttgart this summer... so that's one side of the equation. The other side - is what is going on school wise - the more I think about it - the more I think that a social justice minded life path is where I'm being pushed - so at this point in time I'm putting my Kinesiology minor aside - for two reasons I really dislike the inconstancy in the department marking style, and the overall lax relation to students when it comes to assignments - consistently find indecision, lack of knowledge or apathy - which then comes out in the end as a bad mark - argue it and in the end you end up with a standoff - like I had with my 205 TA who due to his lack of English was explaining the nephron (kidney) wrong - but when I called him on it - all I got was a shrug and an I'm right - sorry buddy but the text says you are wrong - see... needless to say he was not impressed... regardless I think that a writing intensive degree is something I am better suited for instead of a check your brain at the door and regurgitate degree. I keep reminding myself I only need 20 more upper divisional credits - an extended minor will do that for me... So ya that's what's been rolling around - going to spend the night with Rushdie since I left Bowe's book at the office, and I finished the collection - War With No End on the bus yesterday.

You have a gazillion shoes... no need for more, just buy some fabric and cover the whole up... resist the desire to accumulate more "stuff"

I do have lots of shoes but the ones I wear all the time have a hole in the bottom and with this rain - not a good thing...
