Exhale

I loved the soundtrack for this movie - I begged for it - mostly for this song, and I've been dancing in the dark and of course singing along tonight, while the snow falls again... tomorrow is the beginning of a short break - back to work on Monday - no rest for the junior boss when the first thing out of everyone's mouth's these days is boy you're really young to be a boss - yes, I have officially ventured into the territory of a standard movie plot like In Good Company... anyways, back to the dancing.

My New Loves

I have three new loves actually and two are in this photo - well sort of - the bag from Matt and Nat - a vegan bag and from a Canadian company nonetheless - who just happen to have choose salvation as part of their mission statement - I absolutely love their bags but the price is out of my limit to purchase any at this time. This one - the Autobahn was on sale from their winter collection.

The second love is Leaha's Starbucks cup which I'm holding - actually it's not her's that I love but it's the same, if that makes sense - I bought the new version of the same cup - which is poppy red. The real way to usher spring into Vancouver - with a new spring Starbucks cup - saving the world from paper cups, plastic lids and the "Way I See It's."

The third love of mine - is Yael Naim - her song New Soul was on Much More Music a few weeks back and it caught my ear - I really enjoy it - but what I love more actually is her cover of Toxic and her voice - it's un-polished - there isn't that canned standard Americanized pop-star nature to it. Check them out. The blog about my legs is coming - once I can get Leaha to come home and take a picture of my beautiful scars.

Well now...

What to say? I think the stupid happy smile is going to make it hard to avoid the topic of Three with my parents - thankfully I don't live with them and rather I live with Leaha who's face has had the same I like a boy and a boy likes me smile for the last few weeks. So likely as it has for Leaha my brain is going to have a difficult time not turning to mush. Hopefully work and my big stack of books that have come from Chapters will keep me occupied. In the mean time to keep ya'll occupied. The following - now I do have to warn all you picky music lovers - it is country. But even if you have to put it on mute and watch it - I love the binary and that both scenes have dancing. While you won't see me dancing in a pew any time soon - it's the whole being a Mennonite thing - I don't feel like it's a natural expression in that setting - not that it's not in general - just for me it isn't. Regardless I don't believe that what we are taught, that dancing leads to sex is fair - let's be honest just about anything hormonal teenagers do together could lead to sex... but that's a whole other blog.

Music or no music - I love the visuals - then again that's just me, the neurotic literature person - I spend the majority of my day dissecting the elements and influences in media - just for the heck of it...

In bed

While a suggestive title I guess - it's not how you picture it - or maybe it is... peppermint tea in one hand, laptop and 2/3's empty bed. Trying to sort some stuff out in my life in a way that doesn't let them get onto this blog as I was informed I'm pushing my karmic/cosmic luck... so enjoy the following, I'm going to groan the rest of the night away.

Music to keep you occupied...

Some of my favorites - that I've had bookmarked over the year... slowly acquired during similar situations - trying to find good study music, sometimes the music isn't always study appropriate but I have found some gems. The Wailin' Jennys are even local - missed them at the Folk Fest though - heard they were awesome



Her name alone is one reason to love her - yes I am one of those weird name people - maybe to offset the one of the most common names out there - names like Bronwyn and Chava are on my name list. Chava - is Hebrew for Eve, pronounced like Hava - but there is that gutteral H thing again like Channukah... For Schuyler - it's pronounced - Skyler

Q.1 - Music

First question:

Music. A little history lesson, my mother loves music, crazy about it – played her Beatles records until they no longer worked – and hid them in between playing – she still has all her old albums ranging from the Mommas and the Pappas and Joan Baez (love her) to Aretha Franklin and genre peers to the rock of that time period – sorry the names all escape me at this moment, and I’m not going all the way to their house to find out what they are. So subsequently she raised us that no form of music is "bad," so currently you'll find that I listen to everything from Country to Rock - as does my brother... His iTunes which I was blessed with when I got his laptop - includes from Seether to Rascal Flatts and everything in between - Eagles, Kelly Clarkson, Lauren Hill, Evanesence...

Country/Associated Genre: Keith Urban (awesome in concert), Dixie Chicks (awesome in concert as well) and the Wreckers. Related - Blue Grass: Nickel Creek, Wallin' Jennys and Allison Krause

Pop: love JT – sheesh I was a teenager during the BSB/NSYNC pandemonium – though I’m more of a WestLife/TakeThat fan… don’t think I should have said that though, Kelly Clarkson, PCD, Fergie, Lily Allen, Black Eyed Peas – newly added would be One Republic and Eliza

Rock/Pop:U2 (was not worth the money to see, but then again the ticket was almost $200 face value), Fort Minor, Linkin Park, The Trews, Foo Fighters, KT Tunstall

Singer/Songwriters type: The Fray, John Mayer, Alicia Keyes, Colbie Calliat, John Legend, Corrine Bailey Rae, Lauren Hill, Mindy Smith etc.

Jazz/Blues: Jodie Manros, Ryan Montbleu, Etta James, Aretha Franklin, Dinah Washington, Ray LaMontange, Michael Buble and Norah Jones

World: Les Nubiennes (French Canadian), Russian Opera/Classical Vocal - Soprano, Yiddish Folk Music – the soundtrack from the Man Who Cried is amazing, if you're interested I can dig up the name of the group.

In the Christian music category - over the years I've slowly accumulated and minimally listened to would be: Shane & Shane, Andrew Peterson, Jars of Clay, All Together Separate, Jennifer Knapp, Derek Webb, Jill Paquette, and JJ Heller - those would be the one that actually get listened to - I have lots that I should purge out...if I feel like listening to it – I either check out their MySpace page or Air1

If I was asked to choose – I don’t think I could but I would likely lean towards to rock end of the spectrum then, like Linkin Park but the Fray and the Wreckers would definitely be up there. As to dislikes well the really loud rock and roll stuff – not a preference and baroque classical – but if you like it, I wouldn’t make you change the station.
