Wow, what happened here?

I'm wearing pink; ya'll - like consciously selected pink blouse. What has happened? I feel like my former self is having a panic attack - and you know what I don't care. She can sit with her pan of low fat chocolate cupcakes and lament while watching Dirty Dancing. Me? I'm going to try and find the ground and then find the source of the epidemic sweeping the J and L household - I think Leaha has been putting something in the Brita filter or something because this is odd.

To reassure you all that no alien has taken over my body - I want you to know that I have almost finished "The Word and The Bomb" by Hanif Kureshi. I have to say while I'm not a huge fan of his fiction - The Buddha of Suburbia - primarily because of the over sexualized content - his essays are unique, inspired by life and well representative of the discourse regarding British post-colonial/Thatcherism and queer literature. Genres which I find particularly fascinating - so that's one book down and plenty to go - I'm trying to decide - I'm thinking I'll start with Arundhati's and then move on to Klein.

Whatever Happened to the Mixtape?

Granted there are no more tapes - or they're really hard to come by, so I could say mix cd - doesn't have the same ring to it though. I was thinking about in while getting on to the Skytrain - why don't we give them anymore - I would love to get one - *HINT* - realistically our memories are tied most strongly to smell, and if I can't smell you then the next best thing is to hear you - tie a memory to a song or more then one song, so I can gush when I hear it - or heaven forbid - curse it at some point in time.

So on that note what would be on yours? I know Keith Urban would be on ours (mine and Leaha's but since he's now banded for being the source of endless gushing) - now I know there are plenty of country haters out there and you are privileged to that because you know as well as I do that there is plenty of other awesome material out there - so what would you put on?

On the mix tape you make for me make sure there is:

the Fray - Look After You - the Live addition which includes the following

Serena Ryder's - Weak in the Knees

Feist - 1,2,3,4

Some Damien should be in there too - and well what else would you put on there?

Er, Wow...

It's funny to try and define emotions, especially when all you're left with are words so commonly used that they've lost their meaning in an a culture over-saturated with the superficial and the aesthetics. All our words or phrases related to romantic affections are tainted - like, love, beauty, butterflies, tingliness, the foot pop kiss. Yes even that elusive foot pop kiss. And yet I find myself trying to use these words as inadequate as they are to describe, contain or bring further into form feelings, emotions that I have no reference for. The thing I find so bizarre and yet calming is just that peace - I have peace about this - the kind of go to bed and sleep sound - not tossing and turning anxiety. There is no weight on my heart, soul or mind - it's just a feeling of progress where this may lead.

You know where it led today? Valentine's Day cards, standing in Celebration at lunch, starring at Valentine's Day cards and wondering if I had entered some parallel universe because other than elementary school I honestly can't remember a time I have consciously stood there and debated and since they don't have a card for our current situation - I turned my attentions elsewhere - yes maybe it was lame but I figured - this is going long term I get to go all cheesy next year - make up for all the years I cursed the commercialization of affections... still with you in spirit on it Jocelyn though I figure Leaha and I are for the time excommunicated from the we hate romantic holidays and loathe boys club... can't say I'm complaining, sorry but I can't...

Okay, so I promise the emotionally intense Jenn will be departing for sometime and the angsty one will return since my books came from Chapters - so hopefully like Shawn says my other personality can come out and play...
